Voodoo Charters powered by twin OXE300
Tourist charter vessel with approximately 4500-5500 hours of use in the British Virgin Islands.
“Voodoo is probably one of the most fuel efficient power cats of this size in the world. I attribute that mostly to the OXE power plants and her efficient hull design. We usually average about 24 gallons per hour at our cruising speed of 18-22 knots…I would guess the fuel saving compared to the 425 (Gasoline Outboard) for this vessel over 4 years would be around $500k. We calculated about $150k per year savings. We are running even more trips since then so it could be even more…fuel costs are included in our price so the less fuel we burn the more money we make. OXE engines deliver high efficiency running compared to gas engines making my company far more successful.”
“We choose OXE for many reasons. Diesel is just better, period. It's far safer than gasoline. The USCG loves this boat because it is extremely safe from a fire standpoint. Voodoo has no machinery spaces and we run on diesel which makes our USCG inspections a breeze. The torque required for larger vessels is hard to come by in outboard applications. The OXE 300 delivers that torque with ease at low RPMs.”

Catamaran powered by OXE Diesel
The Voodoo is a 57 foot catamaran powered by a double OXE300 installation. She is used for luxury tourist expeditions, accommodating groups to explore the St John Virgin Islands.
“OXE also stands by their products and gives the support we need for a commercial application. I have seen their engineers continue to evolve the 300 and solve issues in real time improving reliability. When parts are needed they are shipped with priority and they honour their warranty without question. It is my opinion as a long time professional mariner that the world needs these engines and most vessels should be using them.”

About the craft
The Voodoo hull design is a wave-piercing, partially planing displacement hull, with a very low draft and drag coefficient. At 57 feet she is one of the largest catamarans in the world with outboard engines. Generally, vessels this size have large inboard engines which require a lot of space, fire safety equipment, rudders and steering mechanics increasing draft and drag. Voodoo has no rudders and no machinery space at all as our power plants are outside the vessel making her very safe.
The vessel is very fuel-efficient for her size. Voodoo is mostly carbon fiber making her very light. The outboard diesel engines are state of the art and provide immense fuel savings over conventional gas engines.
OXE300
The most powerful engine in the OXE line up, the OXE300 is a bi-turbo configuration that provides its full 945 Nm of torque at the propeller already at 2250 RPM. The power and high torque of the marinized diesel block in the OXE300 proves for an enduring and relentless product, applicable in diverse settings as both a workhorse and a high-speed solution, as well as having revolutionary bollard pulling power.
