Pilot Boat
Outboard Flexibility, without the gasoline compromise.
“Outboards were once uncommon in our industry, but more pilot organizations are adding outboard boats to their fleet, so we were curious to see if they would work with our operation. We were fortunate Disruptor had the Oxe [Marine] diesel outboards available because it was one less hurdle for us: we could fuel the boats the same way we fuel our other boats without needing to fill up with gasoline at the local marina.”

Some boats are built to follow the category. Others are built to question it.
Disruptor Marine’s first aluminum Rafnar 9-meter pilot boat does exactly that, bringing together a rough-water hull concept, outboard power, and a format that challenges what a pilot boat can look like.
For decades, the Port Everglades Pilots in Florida had operated large inboard-powered pilot boats over 40 feet in length. To explore whether a smaller and faster platform could work for their operation, the pilot association brought in a 9-meter aluminum center-console pilot boat from Disruptor Marine on a four-month trial charter.
The vessel was powered by twin OXE300 diesel outboards.
That combination alone made the project different. Instead of a traditional inboard setup, the pilots tested a compact outboard-powered platform capable of speeds around 40 knots. At the same time, the boat still ran on diesel fuel, allowing it to fit into the pilots’ existing fueling infrastructure and operational routines without introducing gasoline into the fleet.
That is where OXE Marine changes the equation.
Our diesel outboards give professional operators the ability to modernize without changing fuel infrastructure, retraining around gasoline systems, or relying on marina fuel availability. Operators keep the advantages of diesel while gaining the flexibility, accessibility, and performance benefits of an outboard platform.
During the four-month charter, the Port Everglades Pilots used the vessel in real operating conditions to evaluate how a smaller diesel outboard-powered pilot boat could perform in daily service. The trial demonstrated what that approach can unlock: a faster and more agile platform with simplified maintenance access, strong maneuverability, and commercial-grade durability.
While the 9-meter platform itself was ultimately considered too small for all-weather pilot work in Port Everglades, the project proved something bigger — that diesel outboard technology can open the door to new vessel concepts, new operating models, and new ways of thinking about professional marine operations.
The trial also helped validate the idea that larger pilot boats using the same propulsion concept could become a realistic option for demanding commercial operators.
That is what OXE Marine is built for.
We are not here to repeat the traditional formula. We are here to challenge it with diesel outboard technology designed for commercial operators who need torque, fuel compatibility, serviceability, and operational flexibility without compromise.
Disruptor Marine is pushing the shape of the boat.
OXE Marine is pushing the future of propulsion.

OXE300
The most powerful engine in the OXE line up, the OXE300 is a bi-turbo configuration that provides its full 945 Nm of torque at the propeller already at 2250 RPM. The power and high torque of the marinized diesel block in the OXE300 proves for an enduring and relentless product, applicable in diverse settings as both a workhorse and a high-speed solution...
