Steering
The Purge Hose Kit is designed for purging air from your power steering system. It offers a reliable solution for maintaining and optimizing the performance of your equipment. This kit is compatible with a range of products and provides efficient purging capabilities.
Main fastener that pins the steering cylinder’s rod end to the outboard’s steering arm. To be used with all 300+ HP outboard engines.
The tie bar hardware kit has all the nuts and bolts needed to ensure your unit is locked and loaded for exploration.
For use on standard pivot plate orientations and triple or quad engine tie bar applications on the starboard side of the vessel. May also be utilized on flipped pivot plate orientations and triple or quad engine tie bar applications on the port side.
The Optimus CAN1 Hub connects up to two steering cylinders to the steering gear using a single communication cable. It simplifies installations with long cable runs by allowing shorter cylinder cables and cleaner wiring.

The Pump Control Module (PCM) is the central brain of the hydraulic steering system, receiving wheel-movement messages from one or more helms and driving the steering pumps to turn the vessel as required. Using position feedback from SmartCylinders, it delivers precise steering control and built-in fault detection, and it can also respond to inputs from a certified autopilot system (no additional autopilot pump or RFU needed). Engineered for durability, the PCM ensures reliable operation of the entire system, provides dependable cable protection from vibration, and keeps the steering system performing at its peak.

The Dometic Optimus SmartCylinder is a hydraulic steering cylinder equipped with a magnet and position sensor (RFU), designed to steer a single outdrive or up to two rudders/outboard engines connected by a tie-bar. It offers reliable system operation with no additional RFU required for autopilot integration. Compatible with most outboard engines, it provides smooth, efficient steering for a variety of setups. Its robust design ensures optimal performance in demanding marine environments.
The Dometic Optimus EPS hydraulic steering pump supplies pressurized fluid to the SmartCylinders for smooth, precise boat steering. A PCM-controlled 12 V DC motor drives an on-demand gear pump with integral fluid reservoir, pressure relief valves and a built-in service/bypass valve for manual engine repositioning during service or emergencies. The pump is designed to cut overall power consumption, with no need for an oil cooler or separate autopilot pump and with limp-home capability on remaining engines. Sealed locking connectors and an ignition-protected, SAE J-1171 rated design ensure reliable, vibration-resistant operation that meets Coast Guard requirements.

This Electronic Power Steering (EPS) harness connects to the system’s H4 port using 6-pin FCI connectors for secure power/signal transfer. Braided, marine-grade construction with molded strain relief delivers durable and corrosion-resistant performance.

The CANtrak display is a compact color LCD that serves as the onboard interface for setting up the steering and joystick system—no extra device or computer required to get the system functional. The Dometic Optimus Outboard Electric Steering Actuator ushers in a new era of marine steering and control. It is a complete bolt-on replacement for the hydraulic cylinder, combining the control unit, power source, transmission, and actuator in one compact electro-mechanical module. This all-electric actuator pairs a high-torque, high-efficiency brushless DC motor with programmable steering settings, including speed-sensitive lockto- lock tuning, for confident handling. Installation is quick with just three CAN bus connections, and the system is virtually maintenance-free for season-after-season reliability in fresh or saltwater. Recommended for any boat 200 hp and above, this system comprises two circuits: a hand-operated manual system serving as the control element, and a hydraulic power pump acting as the working element. The manual system features a helm pump with internal relief and check valves, along with a built-in reservoir. The power system is an electronically controlled hydraulic pump that boosts the fluid from the helm pump to the steering cylinder, significantly reducing the effort required at the wheel.
